Whether you're meeting someone new, hanging with friends, or going out with your significant other, it's always an adventure to get outside your comfort zone instead of heading to the usual Auburn spots.
Fortunately for Auburn students, UPC has an awesome line-up of free events perfect for your next date night! In the spirit of the ~Day of Love~ we’re sharing our ideas to make navigating date night in Auburn a piece of cake.
1. First and foremost, ALL EVENTS ARE FREE, ALWAYS!
As college students, we all know that spending money can be a real struggle, but with UPC taking your bae to Dinner and a Movie has never been easier. We’ll be showing “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” along with Harry Potter-themed dinner and treats on Feb. 23rd, “Doctor Strange” and dinner on the Green Space on March 30th, and a movie in Jordan-Hare on the Jumbotron on April 12th! Although dinner and a movie is a classic date, check out the rest of UPC’s calendar full of events to shake up your usual plans without costing you a dime.
2. Show off your creativity
If you're artistic (or would like to be), impress your date by taking them to a Painting on the Plains event where you’re guided through the steps of painting a masterpiece from the Eagle’s Nest of the Haley Center. Also, be sure to check out our awesome workshops where you can get your hands a little dirty and make each other something truly special. Be on the lookout for our upcoming calligraphy workshop on March 16th, and our succulent plant workshop on March 23rd!
3. Learn a recipe to cook for each other
Learn to make something more romantic than Easy Mac. Cooking workshops feature a professional chef to guide you through every step of making a delicious meal that can be your go-to on future dates or friendsgivings. We’ve made everything from Italian dinner, to sushi, to brunch, to French desserts. Don’t miss your spot at our next workshop on April 11th!
4. Listen to live entertainment
If you love live music but don’t love paying for concert tickets, UPC has the solution. In addition to major concerts, every month you can watch student performers at a coffee-shop jam at Open Mic Night (next one is Feb. 21st!). Also make sure to mark your calendars for this year’s Red Barn Series concerts on March 2nd and 3rd. Auburn sunsets + red barn + live music under string lights = perfect date night. (Artists to be announced soon!!)
If you and your date are looking to laugh, look no further than UPC’s speakers and comedians. We’ve recently brought acts to Auburn such as John Mulaney, Nick Offerman, Bill Nye the Science Guy, and Demetri Martin.
5. Be playful
Upcoming events like Tiger Mania, Hops and Pops, and Tiger Nights allow you to let loose, be active, and do something totally out of the ordinary. Whether it’s the mechanical pumpkin at Spooks and Stripes, the indoor ice skating rink at Jingle Bell Jam, zip-lines across the Green Space at Hops and Pops, or Special Projects’ exotic petting zoo, you’ll have a date you’ll never forget!
6. Get cultured
With events like Dinner and Dancing with the Indian Student Association and Día de Los Muertos celebration, you can broaden your horizons and experience a new culture without ever having to leave campus. Look out for Around the World in 80 Bites on April 13th to get a taste of the various cultures that make up the Auburn family.
We hope you’ve gotten some ideas for future dates and you can see why UPC events are a perfect way to change things up for free. Whether you’re celebrating today with your valentine or galentines, make sure to make them feel loved today!
Happy Valentine’s Day and much love from all of us here!
